What is UHA?

The Undergraduate History Association (UHA, formerly known as UWHO) was created to bring together undergraduate students with an interest in history in 1996. UHA and Phi Alpha Theta meetings are always held in conjunction.

While Phi Alpha Theta asks that its members also join UHA, UHA members do not have to join Phi Alpha Theta.

UHA elects two representatives each semester to serve along with the president as liaisons between students and the History Department via the Undergraduate Council (UGC). UHA is a great place for students to have their voices heard concerning classes, professors, advising, and other aspects of university life.

Qualified candidates for UGC must be a UHA member of good standing, a serious commitment to serving in this position, and have at least a junior standing with the university.

UHA Membership Requirements and Information

The only membership requirements for UHA are $10/year in club dues (to be turned in at your first meeting attendance), attendence at club events, and interest in history and related fields (members do not have to be a history majors to join and many memebers aren't).  Members are welcome to join at any time of the year.

Club events include lectures about history and current events, panel discussions, community service opprotunities, and even canoe trips - all events that focus on helping bridge the faculty and student body and enhancing our understanding and enthusiasm for history.

UHA also puts out Archive, an award-winning journal of history where UW students can submit their works. This journal provides a great opprotunity to publish works as an undergraduate student.
